Weeks have passed since the earthquakes that struck Venezuela and Colombia this year, and the headlines have started to thin out. But on the ground, the response is only changing shape.
First comes saving lives. Then, finding those still missing. And after that, once the news cycle moves on, comes the longer part: rebuilding.
In Bogotá, the collection points that gathered over 2,600 tons of aid closed on September 1th, not because the need had ended, but because the way of helping changed. Colombia's private sector, coordinated through ANDI, raised more than $64 million for relief and reconstruction, and D1 donated 1,000 tons of goods, matching every purchase made by its customers.
Venezuela is now eight weeks past its own earthquake and no longer makes the news every day. And yet, the rebuilding continues there, quietly, right where Colombia will be in a few more weeks.
That's why we don't want this series to end when media attention does. We're donating 10% of our sales to the recovery of Colombia and Venezuela, and we're keeping our platform open to share the work of other businesses, foundations and communities still showing up for this cause.
