Chapter 1 | What We Already Had

This year, Venezuela and Colombia were both hit by earthquakes that left thousands of families affected, and the wave of solidarity was immediate: money, food, rescue efforts. But something different started showing up in fashion too.

Some brands exist simply to sell clothes. Others, without stepping away from that, also have a workshop, a set of hands, a craft that knows how to do something more. When an emergency hits, that difference becomes visible.

In Venezuela, Efraín Mogollón's workshop stopped producing what it always made and began sewing body bags. At Port de Bras, the machines that usually stitch swimwear sewed mosquito nets, sheets, blankets and underwear instead. It wasn't their usual product; it was whatever was needed, made with what they already knew how to do.

A textile workshop with stacks of teal and blue patterned fabric folded on a table in the foreground, with sewing machines, workers, and racks of colorful thread visible in the background.

Taller Neo took a different approach: donated clothing that could no longer be worn was turned into stuffing for pillows for people living in shelters. It wasn't a new donation. It was finding another use for something that already existed.

Garage Sale by E.M., in Colombia, collected over 40 tons of clothing to support families affected in Venezuela, sorting it, restoring it, and turning it into a solidarity sale. Clothes that had stopped circulating were moving again, this time across the border.

Weeks later, when the earthquake reached Colombia, STF Group (the company behind Studio F, Ela and Studio F Man) turned several of its stores in Bogotá, Cali, Ibagué, Neiva and Medellín into collection points, and sent a full truckload of new clothing to the relief effort. Same logic, this time closer to home: using what you already have, right where you have it.

None of these stories started with a big donation. They started with a simpler question: what do we already have, and what else could it be used for? At ANTIBES, we believe that's one of the most honest ways to help, not the kind that starts from scratch, but the kind that puts what you already know how to do to work. That's why we've decided to donate 10% of our sales to support the recovery of Colombia and Venezuela, and why we wanted to help tell this story.

Want to help now? Here's where.
